ABOUT US

Christa and Arne Schonscheck are the breeders, owners, and handlers behind Firebird Show Dogs. They currently reside in Madison, Wisconsin. Their lives are wholly intertwined and dedicated to dogs. While they have owned and shown many breeds, their breeding program is focused on producing healthy, structurally sound, and temperamentally stable Cotons de Tulear.

They have owned and/or bred multiple AKC and UKC national specialty winners, AKC group placers, AKC NOHS group winners and Reserve Best in Show winners, UKC Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show winners, UKC Top 10 dogs, Westminster invitees and placers, and #1 NOHS Cotons. 

 

Christa and Arne believe in creating an inclusive community to provide education and to share in the joy of dogs. They spent years volunteering in rescue where they raised litters of puppies and fostered adult dogs, securing homes for hundreds of dogs. Christa has volunteered with the Dane County 4H Dog Project and was honored to judge their state showmanship competition in 2025. Christa has also participated in numerous AKC & UKC Meet the Breed events in order to educate people about purebred dogs. Christa is thrilled with any opportunity to mentor juniors and newcomers to dog sports.

 

Christa currently serves on the board of the North American Coton Association as Treasurer and has served as show chair for the UKC Coton National Specialty in 2023, 2024, and 2026. Christa is also the current President of the North Central Illinois Pekingese Club. She is an AKC Breeder of Merit of Cotons.
